Fact-Checking Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Strategy guides are only useful if they are right. A guide that says a tower refunds more than it does, or that slows stack when they do not, will lead you to make worse decisions. This page explains how the Tower Defense Hub Editorial Team makes sure the facts on this site are correct.
What we check
Most of what our guides say falls into three types, and we check each one differently.
Numbers
Figures such as the 70 % sell refund, the 5 % interest in Endless Defense and its cap of 50 per wave, the 35 % slow from mud in Jungle Defense, or the 66 % and 33 % boss phase thresholds are taken directly from the games' own configuration. We do not estimate or round them from memory. If a number appears in a guide, it can be traced to the data the game actually runs on.
Rules and mechanics
Statements about how the games behave, such as "only the strongest slow applies", "damage over time ignores armour" or "a maze placement that blocks every route is rejected", are checked in two ways: against the game's rules as implemented, and by playing the game and watching the behaviour happen. A rule is only described once both agree.
Advice
Strategy advice is opinion, not fact. We base it on playing our own games, and we test it: if a guide suggests putting a slow before a splash tower, we have tried it and seen it work. We still present advice as advice. Something that works well in our games may not apply to other tower defense games.
How games are verified
Because guides depend on the games, the games themselves are tested too. Every game is played through on desktop and on touch devices, with checks on tower placement, invalid placement, path validation, targeting, upgrades, the economy, wave progression, bosses, victory and defeat, restarting, pause and speed, and saving. Our editorial policy lists these checks in full.
Consistency across the site
The same mechanic is often described in several places: on a game page, a category page and one or more guides. We keep a single internal reference for how every game works and check new writing against it, so that, for example, how slow towers work and the Kingdom Defender game page describe slows in the same way.
When games change
If we change a game (adjusting a tower's cost, adding an enemy or rebalancing a boss), we review every guide and page that describes it and update the ones affected. Guides show an "Updated" date so you can see how recently they were reviewed.
Reporting an error
If you believe something is wrong, please use the contact page. It helps to tell us:
- the page where you saw the problem;
- what it says, and what you think is correct;
- if it is about a game, which game and roughly what happened.
We check each report against the game data and in play. Confirmed errors are fixed promptly. When a correction is significant, meaning it changes a number or a piece of advice that readers may have relied on, we add a note on the page saying what was corrected.
What we do not do
- We do not make claims about other companies' games that we have not verified.
- We do not invent statistics about players or the site.
- We do not present opinion as fact.
