Tower Defense Hub Editorial Team

Every game and guide on Tower Defense Hub is created by the Tower Defense Hub Editorial Team. This page explains what the team does and how it works, so you know where the content you read here comes from.

What the team does

Designs and builds the games

The team designed and built all fifteen games on the site, from the gentle Quick Defense to the four-stage Boss Defense. That includes the code, the implementation of every mechanic, the maps, the vector visuals drawn on HTML5 Canvas and the sound effects, which are generated with the Web Audio API. No third-party game assets are used. The games share one engine, so their rules and controls stay consistent from game to game.

Writes the guides

The team writes every strategy guide on the site. Guides are built around our own games, which means that when a guide explains, for example, how tower upgrades work or how boss waves work, it can point to real towers and bosses you can try straight away.

Tests and checks everything

Every game is played through on desktop and on touch devices before it is published. The team checks tower placement and invalid placement, path validation, targeting, upgrades, the economy, wave progression, bosses, victory and defeat, restarting, pause and speed, and saving.

Guides are then checked against the actual game data (tower stats and rules) and against how the game behaves in play. Numbers quoted in guides come from the games' own configuration. Full details are in our editorial policy and fact-checking policy.

Keeps content up to date

When a game changes, the team reviews every page that describes it. Guides carry an "Updated" date so you can see when they were last checked.

How we approach writing

  • Explain the why. Knowing that armour is a flat reduction per hit is more useful than being told to "use big towers". Our guides try to explain the mechanic, then the advice that follows from it.
  • Be specific. We name the actual towers, enemies and rules from our games instead of speaking in generalities.
  • Separate fact from opinion. Rules and numbers are facts we have checked. Strategy is our opinion, based on our games, and may not apply elsewhere.
  • Be honest about limits. If a category has only one game, we say so. If a feature does not exist, we do not describe it.

Where to start

If you are new to the genre, we suggest reading what tower defense is and tower defense strategy for beginners, then playing Kingdom Defender. If you already know the genre, Elemental Defense and Robot Defense are among our most demanding games.
