About Tower Defense Hub

Tower Defense Hub is a website dedicated to one genre: tower defense. It brings together fifteen original games you can play for free in your browser and a library of strategy guides that explain how the genre works and how to get better at it. There is nothing to install, no account to create and no registration of any kind.

What you will find here

Fifteen original games

Every game on the site was made for the site. The code, the way the mechanics are implemented, the maps, the vector visuals drawn on HTML5 Canvas and the sound effects, which are generated procedurally with the Web Audio API, are all original work. We do not use third-party game assets. Our games are inspired by the tower defense genre as a whole, not copied from any particular title.

The games cover a wide range of styles. Kingdom Defender and Quick Defense are gentle introductions. Maze Defense lets you build your own route on an open field. Robot Defense, Elemental Defense, Desert Defense and Boss Defense are hard games for players who want a real test. Endless Defense has no final wave, and the Daily Tower Defense Challenge gives everyone the same fresh challenge each day. You can browse them all by style through categories such as classic tower defense, strategy tower defense and casual tower defense.

Strategy guides

Our guides explain the ideas behind the genre in plain language, from what tower defense is to defeating armored enemies and pathfinding in maze defense. They are written around our own games, so the numbers and rules they describe are ones you can check for yourself by playing.

How the games are built

All of our games share one engine, which means they share the same core rules and the same controls. Every game has a build phase before each wave, 1×, 2× and 3× speed with pause, three upgrade levels per tower, a 70 % refund when you sell, six targeting modes and consistent rules for armour, splash, slows, shields and bosses. Once you have learned one game, you already understand most of the others.

Every game can be played with a mouse, a touchscreen or a keyboard, and none of them rely on hovering. Details are on our accessibility page.

Who runs the site

Tower Defense Hub is run by the Tower Defense Hub Editorial Team. The team designs and builds the games, writes and maintains the guides, and tests everything before it is published. You can read more about how the team works on the editorial team page, and about our standards in the editorial policy and fact-checking policy.

Our approach

  • Original work only. Games, guides and visuals are made by us for this site.
  • Accuracy over hype. Guides describe how our games actually behave, and numbers in them come from the games' own configuration.
  • Respect for your device and your data. There are no accounts. Settings, favourites and best scores stay in your browser's local storage. See the privacy policy for details.
  • Free to play. The site is prepared to show advertising in the future to support its running costs. Ads are never required to play, and any advertising or analytics cookies depend on your consent, as explained in our cookie policy.
